In our design this year we took a less traditional route for orange shirt day. Inspired by our daughter and her love of tye dye, and our inability to find any orange shirts for sale because of settlers attempting to benefit from our grief; whether it be from greed or a white saviour complex.

The white underneath the orange shows this struggle that has been an issue for many Indigenous creators and designers, but the orange is predominant showing we will only continue to stir up the colonial hypocrisy until they tell the truth, stop fighting residential school survivors, and accept accountability for their hundreds of years of genocide.

September 30th has been declared Orange Shirt Day annually, in recognition of the harm the residential school system did to children's sense of self-esteem and well being.
